Shopping Philosophy
Buy a. organic b. fair-trade c. environmentally friendly d. Made in USA
Today I spent a good 2 hours looking for decent business casual clothes for work in the mall. I focused on buying articles of clothing Made in USA only. And it was tough! All the super sale items were made from China. And considering a good chunk of every dollar goes back to China, I stayed away from those products. Other unique looking tanks and sweaters came from Vietnam, Philippines, and Indonesia. While I have no problem with the international realm of trade, in these times I wanted to analyze the quality and availability of US made products. I bought one green cardigan, thin, needs lots of care, but feels super soft. It was on a pretty good sale, which is awesome! I also managed to buy a super cute tank with a fashion forward fringe for a relatively low price. I am excited to wear both. I do feel that shoppers can focus on buying US products and therefore promoting US based companies. Will it be a little difficult? Sure, but it is definitely possible.
